Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired twice late to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
